Our school’s pedagogy reflects the overarching principles and approach to learning outlined in the Sydney Catholic Schools’ Statement on Authentic Learning. By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.
Southern Cross continues to re-imagine the framework of schooling by rethinking the space, time and the model for learning, allowing students to choose when, what and how they learn.
Learning is personalised and supported by mentors and specialist learning facilitators. The integration of campus-based and work-based learning provides an ideal opportunity for students to flourish and develop valuable employability skills.
COVID‑19 Response to Remote Learning
Virtual learning is not a new concept for Southern Cross students as the majority of our VET offerings already operate in this virtual learning environment. To find out more please see the overview provided in our Continuity of Learning Plan.
